Officer Code of Conduct

1. Be a leader: You are going to set an example to the rest of the guild, by modeling appropriate behavior and conduct yourself with respect to the guild and all its members.

a. Always do what you say you are going to do – never make promises you can’t keep. You want to be looked at as someone that follows through on their goals and promises.

b. Be a presence when you are online – Don’t just linger in your own little world all the time. Always greet the guild the first time you log on as well as greeting people as they log on. Just say hi or start up a conversation with them it doesn’t matter but they need to feel like you care about them.

c. Enforce appropriate behavior – If someone needs told to calm down or stop a behavior, you do it through whispers. You don’t want to create a pissing contest in guild chat. Trust your instincts and do NOT wait. Correct inappropriate behaviors immediately and make a note of this on the officer’s forum if it is semi serious.

2. Show respect: You are an example people are looking at to model this behavior. We want a guild that has respect for every member, other officers, the guild leader, new initiates, the guild bank, guild chat, Ventrilo, our website etc…

a. As an officer you give up the right to engage in conversation that involves, bickering, denouncing or second guessing the officers or the guild leader. This simply will NOT go on. You will act professional on these matters and that will never change. Of course guild members will fuss and bicker but you can never take part in this in a way that encourages it to continue or become worse. It is you job to listen and handle this matter and report the issue to the Guild Leader and to the other officers, through the officer forums.

b. Have each other’s backs at all times- The officer core is a brotherhood that is expected to speak freely to each other in private channels i.e.: officer chat, officer vent channel, or officer forums. In public never second guess…Ever. When making a major decision always get another officer’s opinion if it is available privately first.

c. Know that the Guild Leader respects you, always has your back, and supports your decisions. United we stand - anything else will get you demoted.

3. Communicate: The most important thing is to communicate with the rest of the leadership of the guild as well as it’s members.

a. Talk in Officer chat in game as often as possible and communicate issues and problems. It’s a private channel so you may speak a lot looser than in guild chat. You can kind of “be yourself” in officer chat.

b. Pull other officers into officer vent and speak freely about issues and constructively try to find solutions to present to the other leadership.

c. Check and/or respond to the officer forum posts everyday if possible. I make it a habit to check officer forums before I log on each time I play a session. Please practice this and help eliminate hanging topics on the Officer forums. As an officer is it your job to respond to these topics.

d. Do not be a silent partner – meaning don’t just play the game by yourself every time. Sure sometimes we all want to be left alone, but you have a responsibility to communicate with the leadership and the guild.

e. If you are going to be gone from the game for more than a week please let the guild leader know before hand via the website. It only takes a second and it's not too much to ask. If you are gone for more than 3 weeks, you could be demoted.

4. Commitment: You are now loyal to the guild and as a respected and empowered officer it is your duty to give up the “all about me and my personal gains,” mentality. You are now part of the force that drives the entire guild and are now concerned about it’s gains.

a. Be a cheerleader for the guild – Show guild spirit in public places like guild chat, the vent lobby general forums etc… This encourages other members to do this too.

b. Be online regularly daily or ever other day is expected. If you are going to be out for a few days in a row for a trip or something let us know with a forum post or let us know in advance.

c. You have to be willing to put your affairs on hold for the betterment of the guild. Even though you don’t want to discuss an issue with a guild member you do. This is what makes this guild tick.

5. Contribute: You have a specific job and role in the guild besides all the above responsibilities.

a. Whether it’s a job like auctioning off old bank items, researching boss fights, or leading raids it’s all in integral part of the guild machine. You must do it and do it as well as you can.

b. As an officer you are on the goal setting committee, so be thinking about new ideas to bounce around. Always be thinking about how to tweak and improve the guild.
